Winter hiking in the Jura Mountains

Welcome to an easy hike above Nyon fromLa Givrine and eastwards. The area offers a beautiful view of the Mont Blanc massif. After about an hour's hike, we take a break at La Genolière restaurant. Classics such as fondue, rösti and croûtes of various kinds are served here. The club offers drinks. From the restaurant we then walk back down to La Givrine, approx. 40 min.

At La Genolière is one of Jura's "glacières" - natural caves with ice for a large part of the year.

The exact walking distance depends on weather and ground conditions. Right now there is no snow in the area (1200-1350m).

We meet at the La Givrine train stop at 11:08. There is also a large car park here.

Train from Nyon: R 155 116 towards La Cure, avg. 10:22 a.m. Note: from the north side of the station, go under the regular tracks to get to the 'little' train.

Connecting train from Lausanne: Interregio 1710 towards Geneve aeroport, avg. 09:48. Arrival Nyon 10:15.

From Geneva-Cornavin: Regio Express 18417 towards Vevey, avg. 09:50. Arrival Nyon 10:05.
