About the event

Our fantastic guide Johannes Stenberg takes us to a "hidden" gem in our neighborhood, the medieval Romainmôtier. In the 11th century, the Benedictines in Burgundian Cluny found a monastery that quickly gained no less than 1,500 followers, 20 of them in present-day Switzerland. Our easy walk, about 45 minutes, starts at the train station in Croy and leads along the pilgrim's path to beautiful Romainmôtier where the Middle Ages come alive. By the way, the monastery is the third on the same site – the first was already founded in the 4th century and was thus the first in Switzerland. For those who wish, the gathering continues with lunch at the restaurant opposite, St. Romain, before we go the same way back – 45 minutes – to the train station in Croy.

Practical info:We meet at the station in Croy at 10:45. Train S2 from Lausanne at 10:01 and from Geneva at 09:20 with change in Renens. There is also a parking space at CFF's station in Croy. Registration and questions to Ulla atemailor text 079-4676976. Also indicate if you want to have lunch. The hike is part of"Les Chemins de Cluny en Suisse"which includes 329 km divided into 11 stages, all of this is described on the websiteVia Cluny.ch.
