About the event

Our excellent guide Fredric Norberg invites you to a new hike in a scenic area with a lot of history Saturday 22/5 (Pentecost). This time we wander from Bassins down to Gland along Les Toblerones, a fortification line that was built during the Second World War against a possible invasion if the Germans continued their campaign against Switzerland. We gather at the station in Nyon and take the little red train up into the mountains to Bassins. From there, the beautiful path leads us easily down towards Lake Geneva and the station in Gland. Along the way, Fredric will tell us about the history and nature we pass. And we take breaks with our own lunch bag.Welcome to a lovely break from Zoom and Teams!

Practical info:We meet at 10:15 on Nyon station vid track 21  (note, tracks 21-22 lie during station). The train departs from Nyon at 10:22, arriving Bassins at 10:46. If you come by car, there is parking near the station at Parking du Martinet and Parking Perdtemps. We end the hike i Gland. Trains back to Nyon (4 min) leave twice an hour, XX:20 and XX:50. The hiking trail is 9.8 km and mainly goes downhill (400m downhill, 50m uphill). Estimated net hiking time is 2 hours 20 minutes. We pause with brought lunch bag during the hike. Dress according to the weather and good walking shoes, gym shoes are fine. In the event of torrential rain, the walk will be canceled - we hope for beautiful weather!
